At Split Rock Mountain, the physical and mental welfare of your horse is paramount. All horses graze freely, in spacious paddocks, in groups suited to their age and temperament. Horses are able to exercise, explore, stretch, roll, relax and socialise at will.
Regular faecal worm egg counts are carried out on site and horses wormed only when required, reducing the risk of drug resistance developing. Particular attention is paid to hoof care, with your horse's hooves checked regularly and trimmed as required. Annual vaccinations and dental checks are also organised, with comprehensive records kept of all treatments.
Horses are checked daily and are all treated with calmness and respect, with awareness of their individual differences in temperament. Young horses are handled carefully ensuring they grow up calm, confident and well behaved. They are weaned in a stress-free manner and carefully integrated with suitable older horses. Elderly horses receive appropriate care to ensure a healthy, relaxed and contented retirement.
